I began writing this blog as a way to record my progress renovating an old Dolls House Emporium Classical dolls house which I built from a kit in the 1980's. It has now evolved into a blog about my ever increasing collection of dolls houses and the items I buy and make to put in them.

Hope you enjoy it.

Todays buys from Dolls House Emporium

In the end I decided to order new windows for Magpies as I couldn't get the acetates out of the original ones without ruining the paintwork. I had been waiting for them to come into stock for a few weeks and hadn't asked the price so was quite shocked to find out they cost £8.17 each which is £24.51 for all 3, aargh! They were a lot of money but I know I wouldn't have been happy with the finished house if I had just gone ahead and put the original ones in.
This weekend there was a special offer on from DHE of free delivery, an artist set and a stone garden bench if you spent over £40 so I decided to make up the order to that amount by buying a doll which was also on special offer from £25.46 to £8.90, a mirror sheet and a modern coffee table. The doll is OK but I definately wouldn't have paid the original price of £25.46 for her, at the moment she in having a little rest after having done a bit of gardening :).

Boot Sale Buys

It was such a beautiful morning that we all decided to head out for a look round the car boots at Thainstone, Inverurie. The place was packed and it was quite difficult finding a parking space. After a few minutes wandering around the kids and my husband were already bored but luckily just then we met my mum. John decided to take the kids home so me and mum could have a good look round. Mum had already found this boxed Lilliput 'Clare Cottage' for only £2.50.
I also bought all 14 of these Cherished Teddies (10 Boxed) for only £8 and hope to sell them on ebay :).

Window problems, more painting and lights.

I thought putting together the front of Magpies would be a doddle as everything was already pre-painted. I glued the large ground floor window and door panel and the pavement in place a few days ago and had also glued in all the window acetates and left them to dry. This morning I went to put in the three first floor windows and realised that I had glued the acetates onto the wrong side. These windows fit into the back of the panel and not the front as I had presumed, aargh! I tried to pull the acetates off and also used a hairdryer to try and melt the glue but they won't budge without pulling off the paint as well. They just look wrong so I phoned Dolls House Emporium to get some new windows but they don't have any of these in stock at the moment :'(. Decided to leave the front panel until I get new windows.Instead I am going to concentrate on decorating the insides and have painted on a coat of watered down emulsion to seal the mdf before papering. These are two modern light fittings which I plan to use somewhere in either Magpies or Jenny Wrens but not exactly sure which rooms yet. I bought these from the Sue Ryder shop in Aberdeen :).
