I began writing this blog as a way to record my progress renovating an old Dolls House Emporium Classical dolls house which I built from a kit in the 1980's. It has now evolved into a blog about my ever increasing collection of dolls houses and the items I buy and make to put in them.

Hope you enjoy it.

Florenza Portrait Brooch

Here is another beautiful portrait brooch which I bought on ebay for £8.99 plus postage.  On the back, stamped into the metal edge is the word Florenzac, I think the 'c' is a copyright mark.
Here are a couple of links which give the history of  Florenza jewellery:

If anyone has any further information about this brooch please get in touch.

Portrait Brooches

Here are the first of my new collection of portrait brooches.  The first one I bought at a car boot sale as I just loved the image.  The second 2 I bought online since the postage costs are quite low.  I am trying to only buy them if they are under £10 each but have seen some amazing ones online for over £100.  Once I have a few I am going to frame them altogether as a picture.

Lilliput Lane, Limoges and other bargains.

Went car booting again this Sunday and got quite a few amazing bargains.  This beautiful silver plated teapot, milk jug and sugar bowl was only £8 and will be used in my vintage teaset hire business 'Dainty Dishes'.  Also got a bone china milk jug and few nice side plates.
These two Lilliput Lane cottages (from the Scottish Collection) were only £3 each and are in perfect condition.  The seller had quite a few to sell but I managed to limit myself to just buyng these two.

Also spotted these Limoges brooches at £3 and £5 each.
Went to the Grampian Miniaturists Club AGM on Sunday afternoon and managed to win these in the raffle, lol.

Miniature French Limoges items

Have started another new collection, miniature French Limoges pieces.  Found the cute little plate with the red edge in a charity shop for £1 and just couldn't resist buying it as the picture is so beautiful.  When I got home I looked it up on ebay and found a similar yellow edged plate with a different picture and the miniature table and chair which I bid on and won.  The tiny box was a boot sale find on Sunday for £1.  Yet another thing to go looking for, woohoo :).

Waterside Way and Marie Antoinette

When I bought my first dolls house kit the 'Classical' over 25 years ago all you could buy was Victorian furniture and accessories which didn't really interest me and I soon got bored.  When I decided to do up my old Classical I wanted to go modern as there were so many exciting new modern pieces to buy.  I redecorated and filled it with modern furniture and accessories but the room sizes didn't really suit modern style.  I started looking for a more suitable modern style house and noticed a part built DHE Waterside Way for sale near me which I bought.  I repainted it and varnished the windows and doors but never really fell in love with it so at Christmas I bought the DHE Magpies and Jenny Wren's kits.  Waterside Way got put to the side while I built the new kits and the plan was to go back and finish it once they were done.

Recently I have been researching the different periods in history and have got hooked on reading about the French Queen 'Marie Antoinette'.  This has now got me really interested in doing a French Georgian style property so I have decided to sell Waterside Way.

My plan now is to finish building 'Magpies' and 'Jenny Wrens' and furnish them in modern style, continue doing 'O'Rourkes' as an Edwardian tea room and turn my old Classical back into a Georgian property.  I would also like to do a Tudor house at some time but think it will have to be a 1/24th scale as I don't have much room left.

Today my mum and I went for a browse round a couple of charity shops and I found these items.  The Marie Antoinette figurine was £7 and the cute little French Limoges plate was £1, what a bargain.

Diamond Jubilee Tea Party

Sorry have had no time for mini-ing lately but did have time to have a vintage style tea party with family to celebrate the queens diamond jubilee.  Here is the table all set with a trio (cup, saucer and side plate) from each of my gorgeous bone china tea sets.
