I began writing this blog as a way to record my progress renovating an old Dolls House Emporium Classical dolls house which I built from a kit in the 1980's. It has now evolved into a blog about my ever increasing collection of dolls houses and the items I buy and make to put in them.

Hope you enjoy it.

Started on the inside of Waterside Way

Now that Waterside Way is in my new hobby room I have a renewed interest in it and have decided to do it as three modern style apartments. I bought these matching modern kitchens (one black & two white) online from Elf Miniatures and they fit perfectly on the side wall where the doors are. They were the cheapest modern kitchens I could find at £22 each but one had a broken drawer handle so I got it half price. I made a new handle from a bit of wire then painted it with black nail varnish and you would never know.

The flooring is from a roll of oak effect sticky backed vinyl from Poundland for £1, it's not to scale but will do the job until I find something better.

Apart from the kitchens and flooring each apartment will have a different style just like in real life.

Painting Miniature Furniture with Chalk Paint

I was sorting through my box of dolls house furniture today and found some cheap random pieces. Decided to paint them all (including the dark wood bathroom suite from my Classical) with Annie Sloan chalk paint in Old White for a more modern co-ordinated shabby chic look.

I have now replaced the bathroom & bedroom furniture in my Classical with the new painted furniture.  Here are some before and after photos.

The miniature bedroom furniture looks just like my real life bedroom furniture now which I also painted with Annie Sloan Old White chalk paint.  I am in love with the stuff, lol.

Pebble Walk, Shabby Chic Style Town House

Now that my hobby room is sorted I have started working on my dolls houses again.

Pebble Walk is a Julie Bennett DH which I bought from my friend Paula and was already decorated and lit.

Planning on it being a modern shabby chic style town house so have been playing around with some furniture today.
Borrowed the bedroom and kitchen from my Classical and think they look really good in here so they will now be staying.  Really not sure about the living room chairs though? I bought these at a dolls house fair but they just don't really fit in any of my houses which is a shame. The rugs and gold mirror were a bargain buy from a charity shop at only £1 each.

My old Classical is looking a little bare now though but was needing an update anyway ;).
Where's the kitchen and bedroom gone??

Hobby Room Finally Completed.

Woohoo, my hobby room is finally usable and it has only taken 10 months.

Had planned in getting a joiner to build a strong shelf to hold some of my dolls houses but just never got round to contacting anyone so this week I ordered two cheap flatpack desks from Argos instead. My husband put them together today and we spent the afternoon moving everything around again. I've lost count of the number of times we have moved these dolls houses and that old pine dressing table, lol. I even have room underneath to store my collection of vintage china :).

I still have 3 houses upstairs in a bedroom but at least now I have space for Waterside Way which has been sitting on my livingroom floor for the past few months.

Might even get round to finishing Magpies & Jenny Wrens now I have room to work on them.  Magpies still needs decorated internally and the stairs and roof fitted but Jenny Wrens is just about finished.  Still not sure how to furnish the insides though.
